What is an E Taxi Scheme?

E Taxi is a vehicle powered by electricity and rechargeable batteries. The powered motor operates on electricity, producing no smoke, thereby maintaining a clean and pure environment. These taxis and vehicles are standard in other countries. It is a part of an innovative transport project.

Punjab, and especially Lahore, have faced the worst environmental concerns. Smog in early winter will cover all the air of Lahore. The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of PMLN and Maryum Nawaz Sharif, is now working on green and sustainable projects.

More About E Taxi Scheme

CM Punjab has allocated 3.5 billion rupees in subsidies for the e-taxi scheme. With the collaboration of GoPb, 1100 electric vehicles will be distributed to the fleet owners and individuals. This eco-friendly and sustainable project is scheduled to commence in October 2025.

The E Vehicle Program is the first-ever E Taxi Scheme of Punjab. This Pilot project will be completed with the help of the Punjab Transport Department PITB. The business or an individual will sign a five-year interest-free instalment plan.

How to Apply for E-Taxi?

The application process is online and is available on the web till Sunday, 5 October 2025. Follow these steps to apply online;

1. Go to the https://e-taxi.punjab.gov.pk/ website.
2. Read the details, eligibility, and FAQs about the scheme.
3. If you consider yourself eligible, tap the “Apply Now” Button.
4. In the application, there are two options: Individual and Fleet Owner. Select one option. Remember, a fleet owner can get up to 10 vehicles, while an individual is eligible for only one taxi.
5. Enter your personal details: Applicant’s Name, CNIC number, CNIC issue date, CNIC expiry Date, Father/Husband Name. Date of Birth, Gender, Email Address, Mobile Number, and Password
6. Confirm your current residential address and permanent residential address.
7. Fill in all the information correctly and tap on “Signup.”
8. An OTP of 4 digits will be shared with your email address.
9. Go to the inbox and find the email shared by eTaxi. Get the OTP and enter it in the given box.
10. It will open a new box to enter general and license information. Add all this information carefully.
11. Add a picture of your driver’s license.
12. Select Vehicle Type. Note: consider vehicle types based on the capacity and price range. As you select a vehicle, it will update the price.
13. You can tap on the “View Brochure” to see the specifications, features, and image of the E-Vehicles 2025.
14. Add two references. For references, you need to add their name, mobile number, CNIC number, CNIC issue date, and Relationship.
15. Attach documents with the application. CNIC (Front and Back), ID Card of the two references (Front and Back), Driving license (Front only), your picture, and the images of Utility bills. 
16. Go to the Undertaking section and read the terms and conditions.
17. Tap on the Green “Submit” Button, and the application will be submitted to the portal.
18. A confirmation message will be sent to your given email.

What is the distribution process of e-Vehicles

The distribution is for fleet owners and individuals. Among these 1,000 taxis, 100 are for fleet owners and 100 are for individuals registered with Transport Network Companies (TNCs). Among these 100, 70 are for males and 30 are for females. 

What is the Price of an E-Taxi?

The price ranges between Rs. 4 million and Rs. 10 million. All the prices will be covered in the loan. The Punjab Government will cover 585,000 as a down payment, and the rest will be paid through instalments.

Essential Tips to Apply for E-Taxi

1. You should have your ID card with you.
2. Keep your valid driving license with you, as you will need to upload a picture of it.
3. Upload a clear picture of your ID and Driving license.
4. Select a vehicle type based on your demand and price range.
5. The delivery Time will be 90 days for all vehicles.
6. As you need to add two references (Persons), please keep their IDs as well to enter the correct details.
7. Attach clear and visible pictures of your CNIC (Front and Back), ID Card of the two references, Driving license, your picture, and the images of Utility bills.
8. Read the undertaking carefully and then tap on the “Submit”
